Showreel - Sound Redesign "Secret Neighbour"

This video is an excerpt of “Secret Neighbor” gameplay. I completed all the sound design for the full silent video as a part of a test task for the sound designer position at TinyBuild company. Though the company was impressed with my audio design and ideas, at that time I lacked the technical skills in Unity, which prevented me from receiving the position. However, it stimulated me to develop my skills and I enrolled in the XSSR Academy to study audio implementation. Because of this hard work, I now possess a strong knowledge of game engines and middleware. I actively continue to improve my skills and knowledge everyday. To create an exceptional sound for this video I tried different approaches to audio design.

- For the user interface I generated sound through Absynth synthesiser;

- To create an immersive ambiance I used a variety of sound libraries;

- To create interesting sound effects I mixed sound libraries with my own recorded audio.

I layered different sounds to achieve unique and interesting sounds that could submerge players in the game atmosphere.

I used Steinberg Nuendo to edit and mix sounds for that video.

One of the challenges I faced was creating a dynamic heartbeat. As it was a linear video, I couldn't use game parameters to increase and decrease the frequency of beating depending on the distance to the enemy. So, I prepared a few samples with different frequencies and mixed them manually.
